Terms of use

Last updated: 18 July 2026

First Desk is a free service that helps amateur musicians and ensembles across the UK find each other. By creating an account you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.

Your account

You must be at least 13 years old and provide accurate information. Keep your password private — you are responsible for activity on your account. One account per person and one per group, please: if several people help run a group, share the group account rather than creating duplicates.

Acceptable use

Post only genuine vacancies and applications. Don't use the service to send spam, harvest contact details, misrepresent a group or your experience, or upload anything unlawful, defamatory, or abusive. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.

What we are (and aren't)

We introduce musicians and groups; we are not a party to any arrangement you make with each other, and we don't vet members or groups. Use reasonable judgement when meeting people, as you would with any introduction service. The service is provided "as is" without warranties; to the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to matters that cannot be excluded (nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence).

Your content

Vacancies, profiles, and messages you post remain yours. You grant us permission to display them as needed to run the service — public listings publicly, applications to the group you applied to.

Ending things

You can delete your account at any time from your profile page, which removes your data as described in the privacy policy. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
